There are moments in history which produce tears and cheers simultaneously, the confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is one such moment!

As the final confirmation vote was cast, we cheered with tears of joy. As we honor Justice Jackson, we also celebrate the cadre of Black women whose names will not receive public acclaim but form the stairs on which Justice Jackson climbed. We honor the grandmas, aunties, sisters and cousins who while on their knees cleaning other people’s floors, uttered prayers of power for little brown girls to come. Though they were kissed by cultural lips dripping with racism, sexism and classism, they continued to boldly build unbowed and sang “…Thou who has by Thy might, led us into the light, keep us forever in the path, we pray.”

First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens honors Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson for her brilliance and excellence. Justice Jackson, know that you and your family shall reside in our prayers as you transform the highest court in the land!
